One Last Hoorah

by Carl on April 2, 2010

It seems that after ASW 2010 all my affiliate marketing efforts took a major dive and I haven’t been able to recover since.  Things have been tough, to say the least.  I know I’m not the only one that has been affected by the changes in the industry.  A lot of marketers are struggling to adapt.  The bottom line is that it’s times like these that separate the men from the boys.  The low hanging fruit is now gone.  It’s time to get serious.

Call it tenacity or hardheadedness but I refuse to give up on affiliate marketing.  I see too much potential in it.  Sure, I’ve been working way more hours per day than I ever did at an 8 to 5 but I enjoy it.  I don’t mind the extra time in front of the computer.  I guess it’s the satisfaction of knowing that what I’m doing is for the direct benefit of me and my family and not for some person who signs my paychecks.

Over the last month or so I have been browsing the job seeker sites like Monster, Simply Hired and the like looking for something I can do to pay the bills while I continue to work at making affiliate marketing my full time gig.  Fortunately I was able to get a loan from a family member that will enable me to give it one last big push before throwing in the towel for a few months and settling for a “normal” job.

In an attempt to document my progress I will be posting my results from ad campaigns.  While the amount of the loan will remain undisclosed, I will be keeping track of the money spent and earned using percentages.  I will start out at 100% and go up or down from there until I make it or break it.

Stay tuned!

The project starts…now.

Hey Carl,
wow, great to see you post about your situation.

If most of your campaigns are not doing well, you might want to focus on getting a day job just to ease cashflow and work on your affiliate biz during your off hours.

Alternatively, knowing the number of affiliates you do, maybe you could get a gig doing some work for them to increase your cashflow?

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the feedback, bro.

My day job search will still continue. It’s just not quite as urgent as it was previously.

I’m always open to help others out working for them in exchange for some funds or for some help in return.

If anyone is interested in loading off some grunt work and would like to work something out, contact me.
